It Has Been A While…

My last post was a little over a year ago. I was not in a great place, in all aspects of my life, but things are better now, I’m glad to report.

I am working again, (in a field I had never considered), and am enjoying immensely! The not only employed but in a field, a company and a role that gives me he fog that had veiled my mind has lifted and things are sunny again, and I have a renewed self-belief and self-confidence.

Actually… “renewed” is probably the wrong word, as I am probably at the highest level of confidence in myself and my abilities, in the workplace, that I have ever been at, and as I have more to learn about the industry I am now part of and the role in which I find myself, I can only grow, professionally and personally.

My personal perspectives have changed some and mostly I haven’t felt the need to “push” a particular ideology. Right now that ideology is anarchy, and by that I mean the freedom and liberty from “leaders”, bureaucracies and layers of government, so that we may all live our own lives, as we see fit, so long as we do not interfere with the right of others to do the same. I also feel that more people are waking up to this kind of way of thinking, as well as becoming more spiritual. I do recognize, though, that it is a painfully slow process of evolution, and one that seems to have more steps backwards than forwards, to get to this point of existence for humanity, but I believe will will get there sometime in the future, (likely long after this physical body has become ancient dust).

I am going to try to get back to blogging and tweeting, but it will be without any regularity and with this more enlightened, (for want of a better word), point of perspective…

Of Syrian Revolutionaries And A Situation Room

Early Tuesday, Breitbart.com posted a brief article with a video of Pres. Obama’s interview with Charlie Rose of PBS, with the headline, “Obama: Syria Rebels ‘Carpenters, Blacksmiths, and Dentists'”.

Is he maybe trying to compare the Syrian rebels to the American Revolutionaries? As much as one might balk at such a suggestion, it would, in my opinion, not be that far from the truth, since it always seems to be the “little” people rise up against the perceived tyranny of their rulers, no matter what their own political ideologies might be.

In the video, Pres. Obama talks of being “…in the Situation Room, pawing through intelligence and meeting directly with our military folks and asking “What are all our options?’ And examining what are all the consequences…”.

From that statement I believe that one can reasonably assume that Pres. Obama was in the Situation Room during the Benghazi attack and that while he and his counselors decided that the action(s) they took, (or maybe that should be didn’t take), were the right one(s), but realizing how the truth of the situation would damage, if not destroy, the current administration, they concocted the “its the fault of this video” excuse.

I don’t have a firm idea of what was going on, but there’s a number of shady details that seem to point to the fact that some kind of deal, whether a fake kidnap followed by a prisoner exchange or some kind of arms dealings, (maybe both?!), were going on and maybe even going to plan, until the call for help was put out and acted upon by the brave souls who positioned themselves to protect the Ambassador, whilst simultaneously taking out about half of the insurgent forces. That is when the plan started to collapse and the situation ended in the tragic debacle we were left with.

Seventy-two killed resisting gun confiscation in Boston

National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order. The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed widespread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.” Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition.

However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans. During a tense standoff in Lexington’s town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists. Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.

Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the radical extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.

Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops. Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

And this, people, is how the American Revolution began on April 20, 1775.

I saw this posted on FaceBook by one of the people I follow on Twitter and I just copied and pasted here. The thing that struck me about this article, is that the Governor at the time, Thomas Gage, “declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement“, which rings true about the accusations the Tea Party gets in the mainstream media.

Also, I wonder if history will repeat itself in the near future, not in a full scale revolution, but with the confiscation of arms by government agencies.

Sarah Palin Was Right About Paul Revere!

I’ve seen a lot made, lately, about Sarah Palin’s apparently erroneous take on the Paul Revere story…

After all, everyone knows Revere warned the Americans that he British were coming, but to say he warned the British is ridiculous right?

Well… maybe not so much!

Mrs. Palin states that:
“He [Revere] who warned the… the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms…”

Well, according to a letter from the man himself, Paul Revere, written to Jeremy Belknap in, or around, 1798, he did kind of warn the British that the Americans were armed, and would not be handing them over. In Mr. Revere’s own words:
…I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six [British] officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from, & what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he as-ked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above…

So… under questioning by British soldiers, Mr. Revere basically says “Your guys are stuck at the river with five-hundred Americans on their way, who are armed after I alerted them to your soldiers’ presence…”. Or is my understanding of eighteenth century English lacking?
