Come On, Let’s Stick Together

My fellow libertarians, conservatives, constitutionalists and others:

No-one expects us to agree on every issue, but the current spate of infighting that I have witnessed on Twitter, (and I assume it is taking place in other forums, as well as in real life, too), is crazy.

We need to focus on what we do all agree on, even if it is one single issue, and rally around that. We can argue over the finer points when we have ousted those in positions of influence and power whose ideologies are left-of-center and made them irrelevant, but meanwhile, we have to have each others’ backs in the real fight of taking our country back, because that is going to be a long fight. The longest fight. It is a fight which will never end and we need all of our energies to fight them. If we stand together, we don’t have to be afraid, of failure, ridicule or repercussions.

Right now, we are now living in the times that are merely a precursor to the hellish existence that these lefties wish for us to endure. Why? Precisely because we have been either lackadaisical or dogmatic in our beliefs. That has to end now.

Or are your egos so big that you have to get into destructive online flame wars? There’s no need to get into virtual slagging matches over differences of opinions with those who ideologies are so close to your own.

Almost a year ago, I found a video on YouTube that was a mash-up of various inspirational speeches from movies. I found all the quotes the video used and put it all in one blog. At the time, I was thinking of it not only in the context of my own life, but in the political context of going up against the huge machine of the fervent Obamanauts and the Chicago tactics. Here’s the dialog from that video, with some edits for this situation.

I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad, but today, I want to talk about our opponents. If this were a football game, they would be bigger, faster, stronger, and more experienced.

They say we’re inferior! I say, the American people have been had! Been took! Been hoodwinked! Bamboozled!

Oh, but I’m not finished!

Let me tell you something you already know. The world is not all sunshine and rainbows, it is a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. Well, when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall. And it has fallen here, in the United States. It has fallen.

Believe me when I say we have a difficult time ahead of us, but we have to forget about the crowds… the size of their political machine… their fancy memorabilia and instead remember what got us here and not get caught up thinking about winning and losing.

We just can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. If we don’t come together right now on this hallowed ground, America, its principles and the ideologies opposed to statism, Marxism and all of the other -isms of the left, will be destroyed.

We sink, we swim; we rise, we fall; we meet our fate together! Either, we heal as a team, or we’re gonna crumble inch by inch, election by election, no matter how big or small that election might be, until we’re finished.

I sense fear that would take the heart of me and a day may come when our courage fails, but it will not… it cannot be this day… this election cycle

Yes, fight and we may lose and our country and principles may die, but if we run, we’ll survive, at least a while and I guarantee a week won’t go by in our lives we won’t regret giving up, letting them get the best of us.

This country and its people were great once. Can we not be great again? Are we asking too much for this? Is it beyond our reach? Because if it is, then we are nothing but sheep being herded to the final slaughterhouse and we cannot go down that way!

We are not inferior. We can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of this hell, one inch at a time. But if we are to be prepared for the fight, we must first shed our fear of it. And I write this without fear because I know how great this country can be.

But it is not about how hard we hit back, it is about how hard we can get hit and keep moving forward. How much we can take and keep moving forward.

And all I know is that first we’ve got to get mad. When we go out there to preserve freedom and liberty, we have got to lay our hearts on the line. From the souls of our feet, with every ounce of blood we have in your body, we lay it all on the line. And if we do that… if we do that, we cannot lose.

From now on, we fight them and we shut them down, because we can! This is our time, again, for freedom and liberty. Their time of a statist nanny state is done. Screw ’em.

Do you understand me? How we “play” today, from this moment on is how we will be remembered. So, here’s what I want us to do. We blitz them, on Twitter, in Comments,  wherever we can find them, online or offline and we blitz them all the time!

And when you find your thoughts wandering, I want you to knuckle back down and concentrate. Concentrate! Remember what is at stake

And now, I’ve got a message for those people out there who have abandoned us and written us off! We are as mad as hell and we’re not going to take it any more!

We choose to fight back! We choose to rise, not fall! We choose to live, not die!

And, patriots, let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions!

This is our opportunity to rise from these ashes and grab glory. On this team we fight for freedom. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for liberty. That’s how winning is done!

Would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that of your passing from this world, for one chance, just one chance, to come back to the here and now to make sure that they remember, forever, that we did not vanish without a fight?! That we are still here?! Because what we do in life echoes in eternity.

Now… what are we going to do? We go out there and take it. Take it! It’s ours!

For the victory of freedom and liberty!

Conservatives, Win the Culture and You Win the Country

A great video from AlfonZoRachel on PJTV, with his take on a message I’m seeing a lot in the libertarian/conservative sphere on Twitter.

Bill Whittle: “Where do we go now?”

Bill Whittle speaks at the first post-election meeting of the Hancock Park Patriots, November 12, 2012 where he discusses the election, the culture and the post-political world of the Information Age.

Not Feeling It

Radioscope’s Electronic Urban Report, September 8, 1995

What does it mean to be black in America?  Chicago civil rights attorney Barack Obama has been asking himself the question his whole life.  Obama is the product of a multi-racial, multi-cultural union — his father is an African from Kenya; his mother, a white American from Kansas.  It’s this mixed bag of racial and cultural diversity that spawned Obama’s quest to understand his two cultures and his own identity in black America — which is also the subject of his first book “Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.”

“A lot of the struggles I had were similar to those that young African Americans face, ” says Obama.  “My struggles were also different in the sense that having come from a multi-cultural family, I also had to deal with racial suspicion within my own family.  I talk about a story in the book where my grandmother indicates that she’s fearful about a black pan handler and the conversations I have to have about how that makes me feel (as a black man). Those are the kinds of issues that I had to face and continue to have to face.”

As the first black president of Harvard Law School’s prestigious journal, the “Harvard Law Revue,” Obama practiced his open door policy — working with whites and conservatives as well as blacks and liberals.  But the results were not as positive as he’d planned.  White students criticized Obama for courting media attention to advance his own progressive social agenda, while blacks believed he was selling out.

“At Harvard, as is true in a lot of college campuses, some black folks were of the view that any communication with white conservatives was a betrayal of the cause,” he says.  But, “it doesn’t benefit us to cut off communications from the larger society.  We may not agree with them, but we don’t need to demonize them, in fact I think trying to demonize them ends up being counter productive, because they definitely are going to shut off their ears and not listen to our legitimate grievances.”

Obama, who does extensive voter registration work and campaigns to improve Chicago’s public schools, says one day he’d like to run for public office.

Emphases are my own. This is the article in its entirety. The full newsletter can be found here.

Lets Slow Down And Regroup

This is for those of us who, politically speaking, live somewhere on the right side of the aisle.

This is for those of us “on the right” who have recently made heated comments on the whole Sandra Fluke/Rush Limbaugh/advertisers situation.

This is for those of us “on the right” who were affected in some way by the shocking and untimely passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Just. Stop.

Right now.

That blog you have in a draft? Don’t post it.

The @-reply to a snarky lefty you have forming in your head? Forget it.

That angry letter to an advertiser that has dropped Rush? Don’t send it.

It was a great ploy, by the left. Lets give them kudos. Applaud their skill.

And whilst they sit smug at their pyrrhic vistory, lets take some time to regroup and find the Breitbart within each of us. We need people on our side of the aisle that have an instinct for or adeptness at using all of the forms of media we have available to us today, and who have the willingness to employ the self-same tactics that they use on the left and in the mainstream media.

There will never be another Andrew Breitbart, of course, but we surely have hundreds who are just as savvy in their own little spheres as he was – bloggers, vloggers, tweople, journalists, videographers, film makers, radio hosts…

Let’s think ourselves in a never ending team sport and right now, our starters are out on the field, (Limbaugh, Hannity, Boortz, Loesch, Bila, Gutfield, Legal Insurrection, The Other McCain, etc.), and we, on the sidelines and in the stands need to get get behind them. We also need to get behind all of the politicians that are for the liberties and freedoms of our Constitution, no matter what party affiliation they profess.

We also have to think of our own place in the team and decide whether we want to stay a fan or a cheerleader, or if we want to be a substitute.

For the fans and cheerleaders: wear the t-shirts, wave the flags and yell the slogans.

For those of us who want to be substitutes, read the founding documents, they are our game plan. And keep at it like Rudy, grinding away at what you do until the time comes and it is your moment to shine. Step on the field with confidence, intensity and passion in what you believe, and make the hits.

I plan to be a substitute…

An Apparent Contradiction By The White House?

With the apparent union-friendly atmosphere at the White House, since President Obama’s inauguration, as well as the well-documented support by unions for Democrat politicians in general, something I read today struck a chord with me. It was one of those “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm….” moments, for me.

On the PopVox site, I saw this under the “The Administration” section for H.R. 3094: Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, (my emphasis):

The Administration opposes H.R. 3094 because it would undermine and delay workers’ ability to exercise their right to choose whether or not to be represented by a union. H.R. 3094 also attacks the freedom of individuals to choose the co-workers with whom they wish to seek representation.

In plain English!

The White House seems to be advocating for the right-to-work laws.

Am I right? I’m sure I am…

“…[W]orkers’ ability to exercise their right to choose…” doesn’t sound very pro-union, pro-closed shop, to me…

No Jobs? Working Too Many Jobs?

I hear people talk about having a 2nd, 3rd, even 4th jobs and all I can think is that its not just the governmental entities who need to learn to live withing their means in order to help get this country out of the pit it seems hell bent on falling into…

I think you really have to look at what you’re doing when the working adults in a family are all working at least one job each, with some in that unit working multiple jobs.

Really? Is it necessary?

And if it is necessary, (and I don’t think it is), isn’t that a damned shame, on so many levels?
